Peter Ash, who played Paul Foreman in Coronation Street for six years, left the ITV soap in 2024 following one of the show’s most heartbreaking storylines. His character’s battle with motor neurone disease (MND) deeply moved audiences.
After stepping away from the cobbles, Peter openly shared that he needed time to recover from the intensity of the role.
Speaking to the Daily Star’s HotTV column, he explained that the storyline had been both emotionally and physically demanding, and he planned to take a break before jumping into new projects.
Although he briefly returned to performing last year in a pantomime, fans have been waiting for his proper comeback to television. And now, that moment has finally arrived.
New Role In The Teacher Shows A Different Side Of the Actor
Peter Ash is now set to appear in Channel 5’s drama The Teacher, which airs on Monday, March 30 at 9pm. He shared the news himself on social media, posting pictures from the show and writing, “The Teacher @channel5_tv Monday 30th March, 9pm.”
He also spoke about the series, sharing that Victoria Hamilton plays Helen Simpson, the Head of Drama, someone who is experienced, outspoken, and not willing to change. Peter said it was “great to be part of this incredible cast and crew.”
In the third season of the show, Peter plays Sebastian Blake. This role is very different from Paul Foreman. And it gives him a chance to show a new side of his acting. He stars alongside Victoria Hamilton, known for Unforgotten, who leads the story as Helen.
