Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has found himself under serious financial pressure again, with fresh misery piling up just as he tries to put one major issue behind him. The actor, best known for playing Steve McDonald, now faces the frightening possibility of losing his home while he continues to repay a missing £252,000 loan linked to his company.
A House Sale Threat Still Hangs Over Simon’s Head
Simon is complying with an order to repay the missing £252,000 after transferring the money from Simon Gregson Productions Ltd into a private account. That move reportedly triggered a confidential report to the government regarding his conduct.
The situation has only grown more intense because the firm later went into liquidation. Reports stated the company owed £165,000 to the tax office and a bank, leaving Simon dealing with the fallout of the closure while also trying to meet repayment demands.
Liquidators initially said Simon had been instructed to repay the missing cash at £1,500 per month. They also advised him that after 36 months, he would need to clear the remaining balance using money from the sale of his house, keeping the threat of losing his home hanging over him.
A report filed this week revealed Simon has repaid £18,000 over the last 12 months. However, the liquidators also stressed that the case cannot be closed yet because the director’s loan account still has a large balance outstanding.
More Work On The Street As More Bills Keep Coming
As the money problems continue, Simon has reportedly been earning extra cash as a Coronation Street tour guide. Cast members can earn £500 at a time by showing fans around the soap’s iconic studios. And Simon has joined the roster at the Street’s HQ in Greater Manchester.
The extra income comes at a time when Simon has also been hit with a £100,000 tax bill. It only another heavy burden to his finances.
Fans can attend the tours for £55 per person. Additionally, promotional messages have encouraged visitors by stating that Star Tours are even better. The tour promotion also praised Simon’s appearance, describing him as a “lovely guy” when he joined the group last week.
It asked fans if they were among the lucky ones to meet him, and encouraged others to book. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street updates.
