The drama is no longer limited to the streets of Coronation Street for Simon Gregson. The actor has now found himself dealing with real-life pressure as rising costs hit hard, and his latest frustration has left fans talking. A shocking insurance quote and ongoing financial issues have pushed him to speak out, revealing just how serious things have become behind the scenes.

Shock Insurance Costs Push Simon Gregson To Breaking Point

Simon Gregson, who has played Steve McDonald since 1989, recently took to Instagram to share his disbelief over a massive car insurance quote for his son’s 2010 VW Polo. One quote came in at £7,000 per year, while another stood at £4,000, leaving the actor completely stunned.

He openly questioned how the insurance could be worth more than the car itself. Simon said he is not great at maths, but even he knows “that does not compute,” making it clear that the situation simply does not make sense to him.

Sharing more of his frustration, he explained that even the £4,000 quote felt far too high. He went on to criticise the wider situation, saying “this country, and car insurance has gone crazy”.

Financial Troubles Continue To Mount For Corrie Star

This latest issue comes at a time when Simon is already facing financial strain. Earlier this year, it was revealed that the 51-year-old is repaying a £250,000 loan taken from his production company.

Reports suggest that he has repaid £18,000 over the past 12 months. However, the situation remains ongoing. The liquidators have advised that if the remaining balance is not cleared within 36 months, his property might be sold.

Further complications have also surfaced. Simon Gregson Productions Ltd reportedly faced winding-down costs of £51,000, despite a cap of £44,000 being in place. Liquidators Begbies Traynor confirmed that while the repayments received so far match the settlement terms, they have not been able to complete their duties due to the remaining balance. As a result, the case will continue into the next period.

Alongside his financial worries, Simon also had to deal with personal rumours last year. Reports claimed that he had split from his wife Emma Gleave after she was referred to as his “estranged wife” in court documents linked to the repayments. However, those claims were later dismissed.
