Coronation Street star Seamus McGoff officially bid farewell to the cobbles in the gripping prison drama earlier this week. We all know how Matty ended up behind bars after stabbing his brother, Mason, to death. Earlier this week, the tension peaked when Matty grabbed a female prison guard and threatened them with a knife. But who is this female prison guard? Any guesses?
Who is the Fresh New Face?
Just after the exit, Seamus McGoff took to Instagram to share some behind the scenes glimpses from his final day. He captioned the post as “Out with a bang! @coronationstreet.” The comment section was soon filled up with performance praises and farewell messages. One fan wrote, “Brilliant acting!! I wish you luck. They still need to catch Logan,” while another one chimed in to say, “Great episode, bad lad. All the best in the future”.
We will surely miss him—but one question that was looking around was—who was the female character we just saw in Matty’s last scenes? She felt awfully familiar to many. As it turns out, it’s none other than Rebecca Atkinson who was brought in the role of Mandy. Best known for her role in Shameless, she is a very talented actress—and there’s a possibility that her role won’t end in a short stint.
Though Mandy was put through a hellish hostage situation in the first scene, sources confirm that she will now be on-screen for the upcoming few months. While Matty’s chapter has finally come to an end, Logan is still out there—and, there is a high possibility of him bringing in much more drama. We can’t wait to see how the upcoming drama unfolds as the next set of Coronation Street spoilers come in.
