Wendi Peters is a popular name in the soapverse. Especially for her role as Cilla Battersby-Brown on Coronation Street. Soap characters see so many ups and downs in their lives on-screen, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. Unfortunately, last year, a similar storm hit the actress in real life. She separated from Kenny Linden, her husband of 33 years.
However, she has now opened up with some really amazing and heartwarming news. The Coronation Street legend has found love again! After the split last year, Wendi moved out of the house she and her husband shared. Now, the actress has revealed that she is going strength-to-strength when it comes to her relationship with her love interest- Gareth Wale. They have apparently been dating for the past 14 months, and couldn’t be happier!
In a recent chat with The Sun, Wendi Peters shared that she and Gareth may consider moving in together at some point, as maintaining a relationship with a physical distance of 150 miles [round trip] can be exceptionally hard. That to when their working hours are so different. So moving in together is definitely something that could happen for them in the future.
“I was married a long time, and I mean, never say never to doing it again. At the moment, though, I just don’t really see the need,” the actress stated. She explained that thinking about dating someone else after being with a person for 33 years can be a really daunting thought. However, she appreciates the fact that her loved ones pushed her to try it. “Gareth popped up and we’ve been really happy since,” she asserted.
On a more fun note, Wendi shared that when they first began chatting, he asked her what she did, and she told him that she was an actress and that she was on Corrie. “Then there was a gap of about an hour before he emailed me back. Obviously, he’d been Googling!” Furthermore, she shared that he quipped that she was a star and wondered what she was doing talking to a carpet showroom fitter from Leicester.
However, Wendi is glad that he knows nothing about the acting industry. As being from different work fields gives them much more scope for conversation. Honestly, it is so heartwarming to see how fond the two of them are of each other. We wish Wendi and Gareth all the best for their future.
