It‘s not surprising that Coronation Street actors take a little bit of their characters with them. But for Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster in the popular ITV soap, her real life has become infused with a different sort of emotion. The actress has spoken out about her passion for spontaneous decisions, and one of them has resulted in a poignant tribute.
Coronation Street: A Spontaneous Tribute with a Deep Connection
Sally, who wed co-star Joe Duttine in 2022, has been open about her tendency to plunge headfirst into new concepts on impulse. She does not usually get cold feet, whether it’s a haircut or a visit to the tattoo parlour. And her most recent tattoo is no different.
In a recent chat with OK! Magazine, Sally reflected on her pattern of making quick decisions. She said she would sometimes just walk into a salon and make a dramatic change on the spot. She admitted she once had her hair chopped off without a second thought and said the same approach applied to tattoos. “Or I’ll just walk in and get a tattoo,” she shared casually.
The actress, now having three tattoos, said that one of them has had multiple changes done to it. She joked at how it changed over time, saying that it had seen numerous cover-ups and now existed in a form she truly hates.
But her latest tattoo means the most to her. Sally showed she now sports a dainty piece on her ribs: a snazzy letter “J” with three stars. She said the “J” is in honor of her husband Joe, and the stars symbolize his three kids from a past relationship. She termed the artwork”really nice” and appeared quite touched by what it represents.
From Real-Life Love to On-Screen Turmoil
While Sally’s life on and off-screen is all about stability and love, the opposite applies to her on-screen equivalent. Abi Webster is currently involved in emotional bewilderment. She is torn between her husband Kevin and a forbidden flutter with somebody new. And, worst of all, it’s somebody near home.
Carman-Duttine shed some light on the developing storyline, describing a pivotal moment in Abi’s arc. She recalled that Abi had a shock encounter with a man who immediately stirred something deep within her. The revelation that this man is none other than Kevin’s younger brother, Carl, made the situation even more intense.
She reflected on the character’s struggle, saying Abi and Carl had an immediate and undeniable chemistry. When Carl reappears in Abi’s life, his identity comes to light.
Sally shared that Abi’s past as an addict plays a big role in how she processes the situation. As Abi struggles between temptation and duty, the public can anticipate a turbulent ride in store. In the meantime, off-screen, Sally Carman-Duttine keeps following her own path. We will keep you posted on how her upcoming plot unfolds.
