You won’t believe how bad things have got for Tyrone Dobbs. After that shocking hit-and-run in Coronation Street, he’s ended up in hospital and the situation has only grown scarier by the minute. His family are hanging onto hope, but the next step in his ordeal is the most terrifying yet and there are still big questions over who’s to blame for it all.
The Crash That Changed Everything
It all started when Dylan Wilson and Brody Michaelis, dragged into Carl Webster’s dodgy car racket, stole a vehicle and sped off. Things took a dark turn when they spotted Betsy Swain in their path. They swerved to miss her, but instead they ploughed straight into Tyrone. The sight left everyone horrified. Paramedics rushed in, and poor Ty was whisked straight to hospital.
Meanwhile, it fell to Carla Connor to break the awful news to Fiz. As you can imagine, Fiz was left completely shattered, with no idea what condition her husband was really in. From that moment, the Dobbs family’s world fell apart. Fiz and the kids could do nothing but wait, terrified of what was coming next. And sadly, the nightmare was only just beginning.
Tyrone’s Terrifying Situation in Hospital
When Tyrone eventually came round in hospital, he knew straight away that something wasn’t right. He begged Fiz to get a doctor, panicking as he realised he couldn’t feel his legs. Actor Alan Halsall explained that Tyrone was utterly terrified, and so were his family, who feared he might never get back on his feet again. The doctors then dropped the bombshell. Tyrone needed emergency spinal surgery. For him, it was petrifying.
Alan admitted that Tyrone’s biggest fear was not knowing if he’d ever recover, while Fiz and the children faced the same dreadful thought. Alan also shared that the show has worked closely with medical experts to get this storyline right. He said spinal injuries can be very different for each person, with no set timeline for recovery. Coronation Street has even arranged for him to meet someone who’s lived through the same thing, so he can bring that real-life experience into the role.
With Tyrone taken into surgery, Fiz is left waiting by the phone. She knows she’ll have to deliver the news to the family when it’s all over, but what will she be telling them? The future for the Dobbs household hangs in that one moment. Keep following Soap Opera Daily for every update on Tyrone’s fight and all the latest soap news.
