Todd Grimshaw’s trying to be a better man lately in Coronation Street. But if you’ve been watching closely, you’ll know things aren’t that simple. He’s got a new man in his life, but there’s more going on than Todd realises. And if he’s not careful, it might all blow up in his face.
Todd’s Past Still Follows Him Around
Back in 2020, Gareth Pierce stepped into the role of Todd, and it didn’t take long before trouble followed. Todd came back with one goal, to break up Billy and Paul. And he did it in full Todd style, sneaky and selfish. That plan pushed everyone away, Billy, Summer, and even Eileen.
After that drama, Todd faded into the background. He tried fixing things with Billy and worked at the funeral parlour with George. Some fans, even Gareth himself, felt like the show missed a chance. Todd had just done some horrible things, and instead of diving into how it affected him, the storyline slowed down. Still, time passed. Todd stayed mostly out of the spotlight until now.
Todd Meets Theo… And The Trouble Begins in Coronation Street
Earlier this year, Todd met Theo, a scaffolder played by James Cartwright. Things looked hopeful at first. But Theo’s past is anything but simple. He lived for years with his wife Danielle and their kids, and she didn’t even know he was gay.
Then things got heavier. Theo opened up about going through conversion therapy. He’s clearly struggling. He has angry outbursts and a lot of emotional baggage. Todd’s trying to help. Gareth said Todd now feels more grown-up. Losing Paul made him look at himself more honestly.
But tonight’s episode shows that things aren’t as stable as Todd thinks. Theo finds out Todd spent time with James Bailey and he doesn’t handle it well. Todd thinks it’s nothing. But viewers can see it’s a red flag. Theo’s jealousy is showing.
Gareth said Todd might even enjoy the attention from James. He might flirt a bit but wouldn’t take it further. Still, the idea of an easier relationship with someone like James could tempt him. And let’s face it, Todd’s made bad choices before.
Todd’s Not Seeing the Full Picture in Coronation Street
Gareth pointed out that Theo’s anger is getting worse. Todd has noticed it too but he’s trying to be understanding. He knows Theo’s hurting and wants to help him feel safe being himself. But that doesn’t mean everything can be excused. Todd still believes he can fix it. Gareth said that’s the problem.
Love can’t fix everything. Theo’s jealousy and need for control are starting to show, but Todd doesn’t want to see it, or maybe he just hopes it’ll go away. Gareth explained that Todd’s biggest challenge is figuring out what’s okay and what isn’t. Yes, Theo’s had a hard life. But that doesn’t mean Todd should put up with toxic behaviour. And if he doesn’t start asking those questions soon, things could get even messier.
George Stays by Todd’s Side
Thankfully, Todd’s not alone. He still has George in his corner. Their friendship is solid, even with Eileen gone. Gareth said George acts like a father figure for Todd, someone who believes in him.
Gareth also mentioned a scene where Todd dropped his usual sarcasm and really opened up. George didn’t judge him. He just listened. That kind of quiet support might be exactly what Todd needs, especially now.
Things are starting to heat up again for Todd, and from the looks of it, this could be one of his biggest tests yet. Stay tuned Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street updates and behind-the-scenes gossip.
