In the upcoming Coronation Street episodes, worry grows for teenager Dylan Wilson, but the reasons are not yet apparent. While his friend Betsy Swain senses something is wrong, viewers are in for a gripping unraveling of what’s really happening behind the Secure Training Centre walls. What at first appears to be a moment of concern from a friend soon becomes something much more sinister—and the question is: Is Dylan in greater peril than anyone knows?
Coronation Street: Betsy’s Fears Surface After a Troubling Call
Dylan Wilson, who is currently held at the Secure Training Centre (STC) for his role in the deadly assault on Mason Radcliffe, has been living on thin ice.
Since his arrival, Dylan has fallen under Brody’s control. Brody has been forcing Dylan into illicit behavior, adding to his already dire circumstances.
In episodes to be screened on Monday, April 7, Betsy gets a call from Dylan that leaves her shaken. Although the nature of the call isn’t seen, it’s enough to get her moving.
She soon sees Dylan’s dad, Sean Tully, voicing her concern over how Dylan is really coping. Sean later goes to see his son at the centre, hoping to learn more.
But Dylan assures Sean that there’s nothing to worry about. He reassures Sean that Betsy is just overdoing things and asserts emphatically that he’s handling just fine.
But his close-mouthedness creates more questions than answers. Is Dylan actually coping, or is he covering up the full extent of Brody’s hold on him?
From Dylan: What’s Really Going On Behind the Scenes
The actor who plays Dylan, Liam McCheyne, recently discussed shooting the narrative. He said his initial impression of being on the set of STC was intense.
He described arriving on that set as an eye-opener, considering that boys between 16 and 17 years old are really sent to those facilities for lengthy periods.
As tense and unsettling as their on-screen romance is, McCheyne also said it’s been fun working with Ryan Mulvey, the actor who plays Brody. He quipped that off-screen, they had some chuckles, and he even found a funny divergence in filming methods.
Mulvey, who already had experience from Hollyoaks, was surprised by how quickly they filmed at Coronation Street. McCheyne remembered getting instructions and how he paced up and finished two scenes within a couple of hours.
As tension mounts and Dylan’s mental health becomes more and more uncertain, Coronation Street appears to be on the verge of exploring even further the psychological effects of young offenders operating in hostile environments.
The audience wonders—how long will Dylan be able to keep up appearances that he’s fine, and will someone ever be able to intervene before Brody drives him to his limits? Only the upcoming Coronation Street spoilers can reveal. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
