Sally Carman said the attraction between Abi and Carl was instant and completely physical at first. But watching how Carl behaves with Debbie has made Abi see a different side of him, someone more thoughtful, maybe even worth a second look.
Still, Sally admitted Abi would probably be better off staying with Kevin. But that’s just not Abi’s style, she jumps in before thinking things through. Sally joked that if she could give her character advice, she’d tell her to pack a bag, take a break, and figure out what she really wants because there’s too much emotion swirling around the Websters right now.

Away from Abi’s love life, Sally’s been part of a much deeper storyline: Debbie Webster’s battle with vascular dementia. With Sue Devaney preparing to leave the show, Sally said she feels proud to be involved in her exit storyline.
She shared that Sue is a close friend in real life, so filming these scenes has been emotional. Sally also said she hopes for more scenes between Abi and Debbie, because she loves when Corrie focuses on strong female friendships. For her, those are some of the show’s most powerful moments.
For Sally, this storyline is one of those rare acting experiences that sticks with you. She described the scenes as “really meaty” and said they gave her a chance to explore real emotional depth.
