Coronation Street is about to take another dark turn as Theo Silverton tightens his grip on Todd Grimshaw. The manipulative newcomer has already been working hard to isolate Todd from the people who care about him, and now another person lands in his crosshairs. In upcoming scenes, Theo quietly launches a cruel new plan; this time targeting someone who has always been firmly in Todd’s corner.
Theo Targets George As His Next Victim
Theo’s controlling behavior becomes even more obvious when he starts focusing on George Shuttleworth. George isn’t just Todd’s boss at the funeral parlour; he has long acted like a father figure to him, offering support and guidance whenever Todd needed it. That close bond makes George a threat in Theo’s eyes.
The tension starts to build when Theo overhears a conversation between Summer Spellman and George. The pair are discussing James Bailey staying over at Todd’s place, and Theo clearly doesn’t like what he hears.
Summer quickly tries to reassure him, insisting that nothing happened, but George adds his own perspective, pointing out that Todd is single again and free to make his own choices.

Theo soon finds the perfect opportunity to strike back. While dining at Speed Daal with Gary Windass, he spots Annie—the woman who previously accused George of defrauding her elderly mother. Seeing Annie nearby gives Theo exactly the opening he needs.
When Gary points Annie out, Theo wastes no time setting his plan into motion. He walks over to her table and pretends to be another dissatisfied customer who has had dealings with George.
Theo spins a completely fabricated story, claiming that George scammed his wife during arrangements for her mother’s funeral. He speaks with confidence, trying to convince Annie that George has a pattern of dishonest behavior. Theo even mocks the funeral director while doing it.
He suggested that George should “be wearing a mask and stripey jumper,” comparing him to a stereotypical thief, and adding that the same could be said for his supposed accomplice. The move perfectly demonstrates Theo’s manipulative nature. By feeding Annie more lies, he hopes to ruin George’s reputation and push him further away from Todd’s life.
Theo’s Real Motive Is Control in Coronation Street
Behind Theo’s cruel actions lies a much darker motivation. The villain isn’t simply trying to stir up trouble; he is actively working to cut Todd off from anyone who might challenge his influence.
Actor James Cartwright, who plays Theo, explained the character’s mindset behind the scenes. He revealed that Theo wants Todd completely dependent on him and doesn’t want other people’s opinions getting inside Todd’s head.
According to Cartwright, George is particularly dangerous to Theo’s plans because he’s the one person Todd truly listens to. He described George as Todd’s closest ally, which makes him a serious obstacle for someone like Theo who thrives on control.
With that in mind, Theo sees the chance to remove George from the picture as an opportunity he simply cannot ignore.
