Todd Grimshaw finds himself heading into another tense day on the cobbles, and viewers watching early on ITVX already know a storm is brewing behind him. The warning signs have been building for weeks, and tonight’s events push him even closer to a breaking point, though those around him still struggle to see what’s really going on.
Todd’s Bad Day Starts Before He Even Wakes Up
In recent episodes, we’ve seen Todd slowly drift away from the people who care about him, and most of that comes down to Theo Silverton’s growing influence. Theo has this way of acting supportive while quietly pulling the strings, and Todd seems more drained and confused every time we see him. Tonight, things go downhill fast. Todd wakes up with a hangover, only to discover that all his white shirts are back in the washing machine.
What he doesn’t realise is that Theo put them there on purpose. Todd panics because he has nothing suitable for work at Shuttleworth’s. When he finally reaches the funeral parlour, late and wearing a blue shirt, George Shuttleworth is furious. They’ve got a big service coming up, and George tells Todd he just can’t risk anything else going wrong. He decides Christina Boyd will take over Todd’s duties for the day. Theo jumps on this immediately.
Coronation Street: Theo Pushes Todd
Trying to prove something to Theo, Todd goes straight back to George and really lays into him. It’s way harsher than anything Todd would normally do, and you can see George struggle to understand why Todd is acting so out of character. That’s exactly what Theo wants. The more Todd lashes out, the more alone he becomes. And even though Theo doesn’t admit it, isolating Todd seems to be his plan all along.
Abi Webster also gets caught in the crossfire when Todd makes some unexpectedly nasty comments toward her. At this point, it’s obvious Todd isn’t behaving like himself, but no one around him has yet realised what’s happening behind closed doors. Todd’s world is getting smaller and more fragile by the day. George is distancing himself, Abi is hurt, and Todd looks more lost than ever.
