Theo returned to the burning minibus and reached Billy just as he freed himself from his seatbelt. In a shocking act, Theo fastened the belt again and walked away, leaving Billy trapped moments before the explosion. Later, alone in the funeral parlour with Billy’s coffin, Theo apologised aloud, expressing guilt, completely unaware that Carl was listening nearby.
