Christmas is usually meant to be cosy and calm, but over at the Metcalfe house in Coronation Street, things are getting a bit messy again. Sally has come up with a big festive idea for the girls but with everything going on, you can already feel that this might not play out the way she hopes.
Things Have Been Rough For a While
If you’ve been following Sally and Tim’s fostering story, you know it hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. Shanice and Joanie come from the Michaelis family, and that lot has caused no end of trouble on the Street. Their dad Mick is locked up for killing Craig Tinker with a baseball bat, and their mum Lou is inside too, after the attack that left Gary Windass in hospital. So yeah, not exactly your typical Christmas background.
Sally’s been trying her best to give the girls a normal holiday, or at least something that feels a bit special. She’s decided she wants to take them to see their mum on Christmas Day, that’s what the girls want most, and honestly, who can blame them? But Tim’s been quietly stressing because he knows the prison might not even allow visits on Christmas Day. He’s also worried because Lou told Sally last time that she didn’t want the kids visiting her regularly. Lou didn’t want her girls seeing her behind bars like that, and Sally knew it hit her hard.
Coronation Street: Sally Pushes Ahead With Her Big Plan
Still, Sally’s the sort of person who loves fixing things, especially at Christmas. She’s convinced that this visit will make Shanice and Joanie feel loved and looked after, even if it means bending the rules a bit. The girls are excited, talking about it nonstop, and that just makes Sally more determined. But something else is hanging over the house too, the whole situation with Trisha Pinkerton. When she showed up recently, things got awkward very fast.
Sally had slept with Tim when she was twenty-one and he was only fourteen, which left Sally horrified. She said Trisha had taken advantage of him, while Tim insisted he had just felt like a lucky teenager at the time. That disagreement didn’t sit well with either of them. Even though they love each other, the strain is still there. Now Christmas is coming, Sally’s planning this big moment for the girls. And Tim’s clearly worried things are about to go wrong again.
Sally keeps telling herself that she can make this work, that she can give the girls something good. But the rules are the rules, and there’s every chance the prison will shut the whole thing down. And if that happens, the girls won’t be the only ones heartbroken. Tim’s stuck in the middle, trying to stay supportive while also trying to protect everyone from getting hurt. So now we’ve got old wounds reopened and a promise that might collapse right under the Christmas tree. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street updates.
