Coronation Street has always held its fair share of secrets, but next week, viewers will finally get answers about one of the show’s most guarded characters. As tension continues to rise between Kit Green and a familiar troublemaker, a special episode promises to lift the lid on a shared past that could change everything.
Kit’s Present Keeps Getting Messier
Ever since he came last year, Detective Constable Kit Green has been able to keep largely in the background—at least publicly. Behind the scenes, however, he’s been dealing with a series of personal issues, with recent instances suggesting there may be more to it, particularly in regard to Mick Michaelis.
The tension between Kit and Mick has not gone unnoticed. The two have exchanged cold stares and awkward silences, with many wondering what kind of past there is between them.
But so far, neither has uttered a word about it. That’s about to change.
Coronation Street will be showing a flashback episode that will transport viewers back to 2007, right into the middle of their own teenage years. It promises to reveal the events that bind Kit, Mick, and Lou together—events that Kit has clearly spent years trying to forget.
The Coronation Street Flashback Episode Will Finally Reveal All
To go on air this Friday, 16th May, is the flashback episode that will feature young Kit, Mick, and Lou. Brook Debio will portray young Kit, Lewis Walton will portray young Mick, and Charlotte Alex-Riley takes on the role of Lou.
Director Jason Wingard spoke about the meticulous work involved in bringing 2007 Weatherfield back to life. He said that the production crew had to study everything—right down to the cars parked on the roads, the music, DVDs, and even the houses in the background, to really bring the past alive.
Jacob Roberts, the actor who plays Kit, also explained how much this episode was important to him. He explained that he was thankful to delve into Kit’s past and discuss what defined his character. In Roberts’ words, Kit had once led a very different life—one that he’s worked hard to move away from, whereas Mick continues to lean on their shared history.
Roberts continued that the return of Mick and Lou has absolutely ruffled Kit. He knows they are carriers of chaos and threats, and as a person now employed to serve the law, Kit’s eager to prevent the past from intruding in his current life.
Kit’s Troubles Are Just Getting Started in Coronation Street
Roberts acknowledged that Mick and Lou still have Kit’s history over him—and that kind of control scares him. He told Kit was much like them when he was growing up, and now that they’ve returned, he doesn’t want to be drawn back into old habits.
He also said that meeting Brook Debio, the young actor playing young Kit, was a “surreal”. It was almost humorous experience—running into a younger version of himself.
But whereas the episode promises to deliver long-awaited resolutions, it also lays the groundwork for further drama. Kit has built life in Weatherfield and now it seems about to come apart. The harder Mick pushes, the more likely Kit is to shatter.
As the past and present come crashing together, Kit has to decide whether to keep running or confront his past. And with Mick still stirring up trouble here and now, the consequences could be devastating.
