Todd Grimshaw’s life grows increasingly frightening on Coronation Street next week, as the cracks in his relationship with Theo Silverton widen. What once seemed like a promising new beginning now carries an unsettling tension, leaving viewers questioning how much longer Todd can ignore the warning signs.

Theo’s Past Trauma Shapes His Present

Theo arrived on the cobbles in March, carrying emotional scars he never fully confronted. He previously endured conversion therapy, and after splitting from his wife Danielle began resenting his sexuality. Instead of finding healing with Todd, those internal conflicts have resurfaced and intensified. James Cartwright explained that Theo has recently experienced several devastating life changes: a divorce, estranged children and a collapsed business.

In Theo’s mind, he left what appeared to be a wonderful life to pursue a relationship with Todd, so when everything fell apart, he decided Todd must be responsible. Cartwright added that Theo doesn’t simply get irritated, he erupts. Afterward, he becomes overwhelmed by the consequences of his behaviour, which leads to deep self-loathing. The tension builds further next week when Sarah Platt, portrayed by Tina O’Brien, spots Theo climbing into a van with Pete Lang.

Jealousy Pushes Theo Over the Edge in Coronation Street

Unfortunately, the confrontation is only the beginning. Later, James Bailey stops by Todd and Theo’s flat to drop off gym equipment. Instead of thanking him, Theo accuses Todd of being attracted to another man. Todd insists that isn’t true, yet suspicion quickly spirals into aggression, and the exchange turns violent. When asked whether Theo feels remorse afterward, Cartwright said he absolutely does, but the guilt is tangled with obsession.

With a wife who won’t speak to him, children who still refuse contact, and work that has slowed down, Todd has become the only person he feels he has left. Cartwright pointed out that possessive and jealous partners, regardless of gender, often isolate the person they depend on. For Theo, the idea of losing Todd feels shattering, so he clings harder. Upcoming images even show Theo grabbing Todd by the neck as he vents his anger.

Todd Nears a Dangerous Breaking Point

Cartwright compared the slow escalation to boiling a toad, explaining that Theo has raised the emotional temperature one degree at a time. As the goalposts shift gradually, Todd begins to normalise behaviour he once would have found unacceptable. Embarrassment then creeps in, causing him to cover for Theo or make excuses he never imagined himself making.

He warned that once someone starts defending a partner’s destructive behaviour, they enter a deeply dangerous space and that is exactly where Todd currently sits. The coercive control has tightened, leaving him isolated, fearful and unsure how to escape.

As the storyline continues, viewers are left hoping Todd recognises the danger before it becomes irreversible because Theo’s grip appears nowhere near loosening. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street news, spoilers and behind-the-scenes updates.
