Debbie Webster already struggles to cope with prison life but a new Coronation Street spoiler video shows her situation taking a worrying twist when the authorities decide she won’t manage alone. Instead, they assign another inmate to “look after” her and the identity of that prisoner instantly raises alarm bells.
Prison Decides Debbie Needs Protection
Debbie currently serves time in a women’s prison after confessing to the crash that killed Billy Mayhew, a crime actually caused by her son Carl Webster.
Earlier this month, Carl drunkenly got behind the wheel and caused the fatal collision, then moved Debbie into the driver’s seat so she believed she was responsible. Convinced she had taken a life, Debbie pleaded guilty and accepted the sentence, leaving Carl free while she adjusts to life behind bars.

The experience has already overwhelmed her, which becomes clear when Ronnie Bailey visits. During the visit, Ronnie promises he will speak to Adam Barlow about an appeal and tries to reassure Debbie.
Before leaving, he worries about her safety and asks if anyone inside can look out for her. Seconds later, the prison effectively answers his concern. A guard approaches Debbie and tells her she has been assigned an inmate helper.
The Familiar Face Waiting In Her Cell
The reveal lands immediately: the prisoner assigned to Debbie is Lou Michaelis. Lou arrived on the cobbles last year with husband Mick Michaelis.
And, they quickly made an impression as the so-called neighbour from hell. The couple shook up life around the Rovers and quickly became the sort of troublemakers viewers loved to hate.

Her past soon exploded into major drama when she was exposed as the mother of Brody Michaelis. He was the boy bullying Dylan Wilson in the STC and Brody was also secretly the son of police officer Kit Green. When Mick learned the truth, he snapped. He kidnapped Bernie Winter and murdered Craig Tinker while Craig was simply doing his job. Mick returned to prison, and Lou followed not long after. Lou landed her own sentence after attacking Gary Windass and leaving him for dead, which meant their children were placed into foster care with Tim and Sally Metcalfe.
Fans were shocked when the Michaelis family’s departure was confirmed, though producers later revealed their exit had always been planned. Now Lou reappears in Debbie’s life in the most unexpected place, as her assigned protector. The prison believes Debbie needs support adjusting to life inside, but the choice could hardly be more unsettling. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
