Asha Alahan has been under enormous pressure lately on Coronation Street, and her world has slowly been falling apart. After weeks of panic attacks, gruelling shifts as a paramedic and the trauma of being attacked while on duty, she’s finally reached breaking point. But what happens next leaves her family wondering if she’s crossed a line they can’t come back from.
Asha’s Tough Few Weeks
If you’ve been watching, you’ll know Asha’s job as a paramedic has really been taking its toll. Not long ago, she went through an awful shift where she saw someone die, then got racially abused and even attacked by a patient she was trying to help. Corrie gave us a special episode showing her whole day, and it was heartbreaking to watch.
It didn’t stop there, though. Asha later bumped into Naomi, the same woman who attacked her, at a hotel event. Naomi acted like nothing had happened, which left Asha fuming and helpless. Bernie tried to step in but ended up with Naomi threatening to sue her. To protect Bernie, Asha dropped the police complaint, and that just made her feel even worse. On top of all that, Asha’s started drinking more. Nina picked up on it and tried to help, but Asha snapped and told her she was being suffocating.
Things Take a Dark Turn
The lies soon caught up with her too. Dev found out from her colleague Sienna that she hadn’t been back at work, even though she’d been pretending she had. When he confronted her, Asha was mortified and stormed off without giving him any answers. While Dev and Bernie were at the hotel for their wedding night, Bernie admitted she was really worried about Asha. And she wasn’t wrong because soon after, Dev got a panicked call from Amy saying she’d found Asha in a terrible state.
Dev rushed over and found paramedics already with his daughter. They asked whether she might have taken drugs as well as the wine Brody had seen her drinking earlier. Things only got more serious when Sienna told Dev that the paramedics had actually found drugs on Asha. At the hospital, Dev waited helplessly for news. Bernie then voiced the horrible thought, what if Asha had tried to take her own life on purpose?
Now everything hangs in the balance. Did Asha mean to do it, or was it a tragic accident after weeks of pressure and pain? Either way, her family are left terrified, and viewers will be desperate to see whether she pulls through. Keep watching, there’s a lot more heartbreak to come.
