Friends Turn Enemies! Coronation Street: Will Roy Give Up On Carla This Time?

By Roy

Carla Connor’s sudden silence in Coronation Street has unsettled more than just her relationship. It has put one of soap’s most enduring friendships under pressure. Now that the trust is being tested, it genuinely feels like this could be the moment when Roy Cropper finally questions whether he can keep standing by Carla, or whether this time things have gone too far.

A History That Makes Walking Away Hard

For years, Roy Cropper has been a constant in Carla Connor’s life. Their connection deepened during Hayley Cropper’s cancer battle and became even stronger after her death, when both found comfort and understanding in each other during an incredibly painful period.

Roy has repeatedly stepped up when Carla needed someone steady. He supported her through her kidney disease diagnosis, gave her a place to live when she struggled with psychosis, and walked her down the aisle at one of her weddings.

Carla has always returned that loyalty, especially when Roy’s sleepwalking led to arson and when she fought relentlessly to clear his name after he was wrongly arrested for murder. That arrest was led by Lisa Swain, and while Roy appears to have moved past the resentment, the history still hangs over them. Now, with Carla shutting everyone out, it feels like old tensions are quietly resurfacing.

Carla’s Absence Puts Roy In An Impossible Position

Carla cutting off contact leaves Lisa struggling to understand how everything fell apart so suddenly. Roy finds himself stuck in the middle, especially as the situation involving Becky Swain spirals further out of control.

In a spoiler video, Lisa admits to Roy how deeply in love she and Carla were before things suddenly went downhill. She reflects on how strong their connection felt and how confused she is by Carla’s complete radio silence.

CS/Lisa to Gove up on Carla?

Roy listens and offers a measured response, suggesting that Carla’s withdrawal could be her way of coping rather than an attempt to hurt Lisa. Still, with no explanation and no contact, it becomes harder to ignore the question hanging in the air, will Roy finally stop defending Carla?

Roy’s Loyalty Remains Firm in Coronation Street

But instead of stepping back, he encourages Lisa not to give up and to reach out one more time, believing that Carla deserves understanding, not abandonment. Lisa follows his advice and leaves Carla a voicemail, telling her she is still the love of her life. For a brief moment, there is hope. But it quickly turns painful when Lisa says it may be time to let her go.

CS/ Carla was trapped

What Lisa does not know is the truth viewers are already aware of. Becky had Carla locked away and unable to make contact. Although Carla later escaped and knocked Becky unconscious, the damage to her relationship had already been done.

As the New Year approaches, Carla still has not reached out. And, it becomes clear that Roy has not turned against her. Despite the silence and the strain, he refuses to give up on someone he knows so well. While the fallout from Becky’s actions is far from over, Roy continues to stand by Carla’s side.  Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street spoilers and updates.
