Coronation Street fans have had a lot to say about Kit Green lately, and it’s not hard to see why. His recent storyline has pushed him into that uncomfortable grey area where you’re never quite sure what he’s going to do next, and that’s clearly struck a nerve with viewers. People have been reacting strongly, debating his choices, and questioning his motives but what’s happened because of all that has left many fans genuinely shocked.
Kit Green’s Storyline Has Split Viewers
Kit Green has slowly become one of those characters Corrie viewers love to argue about. His actions over the past few episodes have made him look dodgy, and fans haven’t been shy about saying so. Social media has been full of comments picking apart his behaviour and guessing where this storyline is heading next. For long-time soap viewers, this all feels very familiar. Coronation Street has always had characters who get under your skin, and Kit seems to have joined that list.

When a storyline is written to provoke strong feelings, viewers naturally react and Kit’s arc has done exactly that. Many fans even admitted that the frustration they feel just proves the point. If a character makes you this invested, then the actor is clearly doing something right. But as this storyline heated up, things off-screen took a turn that nobody expected.
Abuse Beyond The Screen
Things crossed a line after a TikTok video started doing the rounds showing the actor who plays Kit Green out in a busy bar in Glasgow. In the clip, a woman can be seen having a go at him, shouting insults, calling him names, and making the situation really uncomfortable. The place was packed, and while he tried to laugh it off, it was obvious he just wanted to get out of there.

Soap fans were quick to react, and most were absolutely furious about it. People pointed out that he wasn’t “Kit” in that moment; he was just an actor trying to enjoy a drink. Watching someone get abused over a fictional storyline didn’t sit right with a lot of viewers. Many Corrie fans said the video was a perfect example of how some people forget that soaps aren’t real life. You can dislike a character all you want, but turning that into real-world abuse is a step too far.
Soap Fans Have Seen This Before
As the conversation grew, fans started sharing other moments where actors had been targeted because of their characters. Jack P. Shepherd’s name came up a lot, with viewers remembering how he once said a woman hit him with her handbag when he was playing David Platt. Others recalled his Instagram story about a woman commenting that he looked scruffy and needed a haircut. People also remembered a moment when Jack replied to a comment about him being skinny by explaining he’d struggled with an eating disorder.

Fans said they felt embarrassed for the person who made the comment and praised Jack for how calmly he handled it. Then there were even more extreme examples. Some fans recalled the actor who played Pat Phelan saying a woman had a go at him while he was out shopping, calling him evil. Others couldn’t remember if it was him or the actor who played Richard Hillman. But someone had apparently even contacted the police during a storyline when the character was wanted.
One story that really stuck with fans involved Geoffrey Hughes, who played Eddie Yates. During a visit to the police station, a member of the public reportedly told officers that Eddie Yates was right there. If an actor makes you really hate a character, that means they’re brilliant at their job. The anger should stay with the character, not the person playing them.
