Christmas is around the corner on Coronation Street, and this year things at the Rovers Return already feel a bit loaded. With the Driscolls now running the pub, Maggie seems to have her own ideas about how the big day should go and let’s just say, it doesn’t look like she’s planning a quiet Christmas dinner.
Maggie’s Issues With Eva Start to Bubble Up
Maggie and Eva haven’t been getting along for ages. They clash over family stuff, over pub decisions; honestly, over pretty much everything. And now it looks like Maggie has taken things up a level, because she’s decided she wants Eva out of the family entirely.
It all starts when little Susie tells Eva she’d love a baby brother or sister. Instead of being touched, Eva panics, and Maggie picks up on it right away. Then Maggie finds a hidden letter.

And to make things worse, she spots Eva and Adam having what looks like a proper heart-to-heart. You can imagine how quickly her mind starts racing. So Maggie puts a plan together. She invites Adam and his girlfriend Alya to Christmas dinner at the Rovers, hoping it’ll stir things up for Eva. But she accidentally creates a bigger mess when she also invites Daniel and Megan, not knowing Megan has been grooming her grandson Will. That little detail is going to blow things wide open.
The Christmas Dinner Turns Into Pure Chaos
By the time everyone sits down to eat, you can pretty much feel the tension from across the room. What should’ve been a nice Christmas meal turns into a full-on showdown. Secrets come out, people argue, and emotions run high. Then it gets even worse, a fight breaks out and one resident ends up unconscious in the ginnel. Now the big question is: does Maggie regret any of this? Or did everything go exactly how she wanted?

Pauline McLynn, who plays Maggie, said she found it really surreal to be at the centre of the Christmas storyline because it felt like such a classic festive TV moment. She said the Driscoll family behaves just as badly as any family stuck together at Christmas and joked that someone always ends up making trouble. She also admitted Maggie is “particularly mean” this year, not just to Eva, but to several people. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street updates and festive drama.
