EastEnders gave him fame, family, and everything in between. Danny Dyer has lived it all. But even now, one thing still haunts him. He was the man who made Mick Carter unforgettable. Now, Danny Dyer is back on screen. And this time, he’s reuniting with someone who once played his mum. Keep reading to find out more.
EastEnders’ Mick And Shirley Reunite, But Danny Still Holds A Quiet Regret
In the second season of Mr Bigstuff, Dyer stars alongside Linda Henry, who played Shirley on the soap. But this time, she is not his mother. She plays a mechanic named Pam.
Even so, the reunion brought back old emotions. Speaking to a source, Dyer admitted one thing still bothers him about his time on the soap.
“I wanted more scenes with her,” he said about Henry. The two had chemistry that fans never forgot. But the show never gave them enough time together.
The Invite Never Came.
It stung, he admitted, that the BBC soap never called him for its 40th anniversary.
“I would have gone back if they’d asked me,” he said during an interview on The Late Late Show. “But they didn’t ask me. I don’t know why.”
He played Mick for nearly a decade, from 2013 to the Christmas Day episode in 2022.
That was when it all ended with a car chase, a crash, and the final plunge into the sea with Janine and Linda. And then, he was gone. While Dyer made peace with his exit, he has never been shy about his disappointment.
“I felt my character had lost his way,” he said. “I didn’t quite know who I was playing anymore.” For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, follow Soap Opera Daily.
