It has been quite a while since we saw Theresa Donovan on Days of Our Lives. After getting exposed at the altar by Fiona Cook for fraud, she was arrested and has been marinating in prison ever since. However, her son Tate Black’s life has taken a sharp turn on the soap. He recently found out that Sophia is pregnant with his child. These are the kind of times when troubled teenagers need their parents the most.
Thus, we can’t help but wonder if Theresa would return to Days of Our Lives to become part of Tate’s new storyline. We must mention that in recent months, actress Emily O’Brien took over the role of Theresa. However, fans still yearn to see the OG Theresa, a.k.a. Jen Lilley, back in the role. Honestly, we won’t be complaining if that happens! Jen did make a pretty great Theresa and her chemistry with Brady Black was crackling!
In a recent chat with SOD, Jen Lilley addressed the possibility of her return to the Peacock sudser. “I’d definitely be open to returning to the role. Even for a longer arc. But soaps shoot all year. Meanwhile, prime-time series or movies that only film for a few months and have a hiatus,” she said. The actress admitted that soaps require a deep and long-term commitment, and at the moment, she can’t make that sort of commitment.
Jen pointed out that her children are still very young, and she can’t stay away from them. She has to put her family first. “While I’d love to come back in smaller arcs when the timing is right, I’m not in a position to take on the full-time commitment,” she asserted. Even though she is not returning to the soap just yet, Jen stated that Theresa is one of her favorite characters.
However, the actress also shared her shock at one of the most recent Theresa storylines. Jen was shocked when she found out that Theresa kidnapped baby Victoria. Jen recalled that back in the day, Theresa was shattered when baby Tate was snatched from her. Thus, it felt out of character when Theresa kidnapped baby Victoria. But then, we see such character flips pretty often on soaps. So, we guess we’ll let this one slide.
