Days of Our Lives lost a rarest gem in Drake Hogestyn (John Black) earlier this year. He wasn’t just a fantastic actor but also a true friend. Drake’s co-star, Deidre Hall, who had that one-in-a-million bond with him, feels the void in unimaginable ways. The duo behind the iconic Marlena and John worked together for almost forty years. They were like two peas in a pod. But now, Salem and everyone have to go on without him. How does Hall feel about this change?
“It Still Doesn’t Feel Real”
During an intense interview with Access Hollywood, Days of Our Lives actress got emtional about Hogestyn’s passing. She revealed how Drake’s demise affected not only her but the whole DAYS family. Deidre was taken aback by Hogestyn’s diagnosis. Moreover, she admits it still doesn’t feel real as everyone had very little notice. Then, his passing was like a “shock” nobody saw coming.
She was like, “‘Drake!’ Drake, I mean the healthiest, the most positive. And then there it was.” Meanwhile, the DAYS actor who brought John to life had been unable to film for a while. The idea that the man she’d worked alongside for so long could be taken so suddenly was tough for Hall to process. “I will sometimes be sitting on the set and thinking, ‘John is gone, oh my gosh, Drake is gone!'” she shared.
It goes without saying that Deidre or Marlena will never ever forget Drake. The actress carries many cherished memories with him that will never fade. She’s not letting those memories slip away! “I have so much that I have stored up with him over the years,” said Hall. Additionally, she deeply misses Drake’s love for his craft, for herself, and for everyone who worked alongside him.

Deidre just feels sad for the late actor, who could never return to the set to work. According to her, Hogestyn loved his job and being there with his DOOL family. Aww!
