Days of Our Lives fans were caught off guard by Eric’s (Greg Vaughan) departure with Nicole. We already knew that Arianne Zucker was leaving the Peacock soap. But, it seemed the show would find a way to keep Eric around. However, suddenly everything lined up perfectly for “Ericole.” It looked like sending them both off to Paris with Jude was the only way to wrap up their story. Sadly, that’s not how Greg wanted to say goodbye. Read further to catch the whole tea!
“I Didn’t Leave Days of Our Lives by Choice”
In the latest episode of Days of Our Lives, Eric and Nicole packed their bags for Paris. The duo set off to start a new chapter with their little one. A source close to the soap has hinted that this won’t be the last time we see Eric. Well, what exactly that means is still up in the air. Anyway, it looks like Greg wasn’t satisfied with the conclusion.
In a twist of social media drama, Greg Vaughan shared a series of stories on Instagram that definitely have fans talking. Moreover, his final story was a black screen with a simple yet LOADED message. It reads, “I didn’t leave by choice. I never had a choice.” On top of that, the words ended with a broken heart emoji. His story soon has left many speculating about his show’s future.
This cryptic message from Vaughan casts a shadow over Nicole and Eric’s otherwise happy ending. Additionally, if Eric’s departure were truly permanent, it would be a big blow to lose two key characters all at once. However, Vaughan’s post suggests that there might be more to this story. Meanwhile, Deidre Hall, aka Marlena, expressed sadness on Instagram.
She bid farewell to her TV son with a heartfelt message. The DOOL actress described him as “kind, caring, and beautiful” and lauded his deep commitment to his family. Furthermore, Robert Scott Wilson (Alex) chimed in with a digital toast to “Two of the best ever.” Martha Madison (ex-Belle) simply agreed with her TV family’s sentiments.
Fans who were touched expressed their disappointment at not seeing Eric raise Jude. They hoped his departure might not be permanent. Mind you, this isn’t Vaughan’s first exit as Eric, as he has made comebacks before. So, don’t be too surprised if he makes another return—hopefully without another exorcism storyline this time!
