It has been a while since we last saw Dimitri Von Leuschner on Days of Our Lives. Actor Peter Porte first appeared as Dimitri on Beyond Salem, and them jumped over to the mothership as Meghan Hathaway’s son. He had quite a good run on the soap, as an almost baddie, but also a softie. He tried to dupe Gwen into marrying him before his 40th birthday to get his inheritance. However, he ended up falling in love with Leo Stark.
Days of Our Lives really cheered for Leo and Dimitri, as they made a really good couple together. However, their romance crashed when Dimitri had to go to Super Max prison. And that’s the last we saw of him. There have been mentions of him moving to New York after his prison stint, but the character has remained off-screen. However, we feel ut’s time for him to return to Salem.
Peter Porte is a terrific actor and had a lot of potential on the soap as Dimitri Von Leuschner. Now, that Leo Stark is on the brink of starting a new romance with Javi, it is the perfect time for Dimitri to return. His comeback could really shake up Leo’s romance. The two had parted ways with their feelings for each other intact. So, Dimitri’s return to town could bring all of Leo’s past feelings to the surface and open the door to a messy new love triangle.
Meanwhile, Dimitri’s return will also open the door for his mother, Meghan Hathaway’s return. The soap is clearly lacking a good villain right now, and could use Meghan. She, after all, is the most like Stefan DiMera, among all his children. Her return could also spark another DiMera sibling rivalry which died after Stefan’s exit. EJ DiMera and Kristen would finally have someone to scheme with, or, conversely, scheme against! Moreover, Meghan and Dimitri did some really good scenes together and we’d love to see more of that!
