Many long-term Days of Our Lives fans experienced a heartbreak when the Horton House burnt down to ashes. It was truly the end of an era, that house was iconic to the soap. But, we fear that something even worse could be taking shape behind the scenes, and it may have dear Doug at the nether. Dive in to find out the details.
Days of Our Lives Pays Tribute To Bill Hayes (Doug)
While it was truly painful to watch the Horton House look so downtrodden, there was still a silver lining. In the aftermath of the fire, Days of Our Lives paid a beautiful homage to the iconic Salem establishment.
When Julie and Doug went back to the rubbles of their house, they relived some mesmerizing past memories. Fans too got to relive them in form of a faux flashback sequence recounting Tom and Alice Horton’s love saga.
Just as the episode was winding up, Days of Our Lives paid tribute to stellar soap star Bill Hayes. “In loving memory”, the tribute read. Furthermore, they quoted Hamlet and write, “Good night, sweet prince; and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

We know that legendary Bill Hayes passed away in January, 2024. And with this written tribute it seems that we may have seen the last of Doug on-screen. But honestly, we were not ready for this. Considering that DOOL shots months in advance, many buffs, including us, thought we’d still have some more Doug scenes to watch.
Unfortunately, that does not seem to be the case anymore. Also, considering the advance filming schedule, there is a possibility that we may have a proper Days of Our Lives episode dedication for Doug (Bill Hayes) a few months down the road. When DOOL catches up to real time.
Our hearts are really heavy at the moment over losing Bill and his Doug. Join us in reliving his memory today by leaving your fav Doug storyline in the comments below. Meanwhile, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates.
I just loved the singing at Doug’s Place with Robair Eclaire and Doug.
When Doug sang Danny Boy at Tom’s funeral I believe.
Bill Hayes was an icon as Doug Williams and he deserves a tribute through memories that he made with his fans on Days of Our Lives. Just the blurb at the end isn’t enough. Owning Doug’s Place was big and had many memories with his singing. More needs to happen to honor him and Susan Seaforth Hayes.
He will be missed. I loved his singing years ago. He was a great star . I loved him and Julie as well. I was very sad he passed. I cried when I seen he had passed. He was a very good one He will be missed so much.
