Days of Our Lives star Cherie Jimenez (Gabi Hernandez) literally manifested the arrival of a new addition to the Hernandez family. Cherie was desperate for a change of pace when Gabi’s on-screen romance with Stefan DiMera faced a temporary curtain call. Days of Our Lives introduced Gabi’s cousin, Javi Hernandez (Al Calderon) to bring colors to her life. And guess what? Jimenez bonded with Calderon from the get-go and made it a priority to welcome him warmly. Moreover, she shares, “We spent the whole entire time talking to where we only ran lines for a little bit.” They duo almost became like a family by the time they shot their first scene together.
“We love each other so much. I’m so grateful that Al came into my life. He’s just so fun,” she gushes. The DAYS diva shares how the love they have for each other translated into their performances. Cherie explains, “It allowed us to really just play off each other.” Furthermore, Calderon’s arrival adds more weight to the Hernandez family’s storylines.
The actress emphasizes on the rarity and importance of showcasing a Latin family in daytime television. She thinks the Peacock soap stands out among other soaps by expanding and celebrating an entire family unit. Additionally, Jimenez highlights her chemistry with Calderon, and Galen Gering (Rafe), saying, “We have so much fun on set.”
