The chemistry between Days of Our Lives characters Belle and Marlena can easily make anyone believe in fairy tale families. If this mother-daughter duo doesn’t give you all the feels, we don’t know what will! And guess what? Martha Madison (Belle) and Deidre Hall (Marlena) are also tight in real life. Let’s hear the whole scoop from Martha herself.
Days of Our Lives: More Than Just On-Screen Magic!
The Days of Our Lives star, who joined DOOL back in 2004, absolutely adores her on-screen mom, Deidre. “I love working with her. We have a very natural relationship both on and off screen,” she tells SOD. When Madison first joined the cast as Belle, she didn’t share scenes with Deidre for a few months.
Marlena’s “Salem Stalker“ storyline had Hall off on an island adventure. However, when the two finally got to meet, it was a fan-girl moment for Martha. “I had watched the show for most of my life, so I was a little starstruck,“ she explains. Moreover, Madison was still still finding her footing as Belle, as she wasn’t a fan favorite yet.
Deidre sensed her nervousness and welcomed her, saying, “You’re with me, kid. I got you.“ She reveals, “It [the support] meant a lot to me, and I kind of clung onto that.“ Martha shares that Deidre has been her mentor to this day. Furthermore, the DAYS diva comes from a family of only women, which helped her understand women more deeply.

Hall Resembles Women in Martha’s Life
She instantly connects with Hall, who reminds her much of her late mother. “They even say some of the same things! It’s really weird,“ Martha chuckles. The traits that make Deidre so special are similar to those of the women in her life. “Deidre is very independent. She’s very strong. She says what she means,“ she shares.
Additionally, Madison loves how Belle is now embracing that same confidence, moving away from the damsel in distress trope. She declares, “I’d like to tell stories about a successful, confident, headstrong woman.“ Due to living apart, the duo stays close through phone calls and regular meet-ups at the soap studio. One of Martha’s favorite memories?
It’s when Deidre attended her wedding in 2007, and Martha shared her first dance with her husband. “I looked over, and Deidre had her arm around my mom. It was really sweet,“ Martha recalls. The moment just “choked her up!” Doesn’t your heart melt a little? Don’t miss out on more Days of Our Lives scoop at Soap Opera Daily. What do you have to say about this special bond?
