Days of Our Lives star Kristian Alfonso’s comeback to Salem is making waves for good reason. We won’t judge the OG fans for freaking out because this comeback is downright legendary! Alfonso embraced Hope Brady when she was just 19 and left everyone spellbound by her craft. This time, she turns up to see her father in flesh and bones one last time. Feeling the chill already, aren’t you?
Alfonso Was Taken Aback by Bill’s Passing
Days of Our Lives is gearing up for Doug Williams’ (Bill Hayes) funeral, and Hope obviously can’t stay aloof. The emotional storyline follows Bill’s passing earlier this year at 98. The lost star was a daytime television legend, and his legacy will stay with us. However, Hayes’ death was deeply personal for Kristian. The DAYS actress vividly recalls the moment she heard the devastating news.
She couldn’t process the loss and couldn’t make her way home. Additionally, when the Peacock soap reached out to involve her in Doug’s funeral, she replied in a heartbeat. “I knew how difficult it would be, but I was very happy,” shared Alfonso. She was beyond grateful, especially since she’s not even a show regular. Next, Kristian immediately hugged Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) after bumping into her.
She praised Susan, calling her a “warrior” for bearing the trauma in real life and living it again on screen. She added, “[Her performance] is a beautiful legacy and tribute to her incredible, amazing, loving husband.” On-screen, Hope faces a delay on her way back to Salem. The character is torn between leaving Bo’s side (who’s comatose) and coming to say goodbye to her father.
However, the writers came up with a plausible reason for her absence. Hope ultimately made it to the funeral. Her reaction? “I wanted Hope to be strong for Julie when they saw each other,” Alfonso explained. Furthermore, Kristian was happy to see old faces like Jennifer, Shawn, and Ciara. But hold up —there’s another mystery character!

She teased, “There’s a new character that makes Hope’s back immediately go up, and she is not very trusting of.” While the reunion felt bittersweet, Alfonso couldn’t help but think about Bill, who “was such a huge part of the show.” She also regrets not sharing the screen with Hayes during her last stint, which “would have been joyful and super-fun to shoot.”
When asked about Bo’s health update, Alfonso replied, “Possibly—with an exclamation point and a question mark!” Here’s hoping we see these lovers back in action. Don’t forget to check out Soap Opera Daily for more inside scoop on Days of Our Lives celebs!
