Days of Our Lives plans to move us with touching tributes, a fresh start, and some teasers about Stephanie’s love life. The Peacock soap recently celebrated its 59th anniversary and upcoming 60th season. At the red carpet event, our favorites Stephen Nichols (a.k.a. Steve “Patch” Johnson) and Abigail Klein (Stephanie Johnson) got real. They addressed the passing of Drake Hogestyn (John Black) and hinted at what was in store for Stephanie’s heart. Find out below!
A Fresh Love Story in Salem?
The Days of Our Lives legend Drake Hogestyn departed the mortal realm due to pancreatic cancer at age 70. Stephen didn’t hold back his grief, calling cancer out in fixed terms. “Can I just say this? F**k cancer! I’ve lost several people just in the last three years to cancer,” he said. However, Drake’s memories fuel his motivation!
It gave him the strength to keep bringing those energetic vibes to Salem. Additionally, Johnson described Hogestyn as the “hardest working, most enthusiastic, most kind person.” The DAYS actor plans to honor Drake’s legacy by “trying to emulate those qualities.” Earlier, Stephen shared a very emotional tribute to Drake that can melt even the coldest heart.
Meanwhile, Abigail Klein shared her admiration for Stephen and Drake’s special connection. “Watching them work and seeing their friendship, there’s nothing like it.” Although her time working with Drake was brief, she’s incredibly grateful to have known him. Back on the ex-NBC soap, Stephanie is in for a romantic encounter. Abigail teased, “I think something’s coming up, and I think it’s really fun.”

However, she kept the mystery alive as to who this brand-new flame might be. Will it be Philip, her ex-fiancé? Or maybe Alex? Furthermore, it could be someone whom we haven’t even seen yet. Whatever the case, we know it’s going to be one heck of a ride. Mind you, Stephanie’s dad is ready to keep a close eye on the new guy.
Nichols shared, “As a father, you’re being protective.” So, Patch won’t let just anyone waltz into his daughter’s life without a little eyeing.
