If you tuned into Beyond the Gates this week expecting a new episode and got a rerun instead, you’re not alone. Fans everywhere are wondering what’s going on. And with no fresh drama from Castle Hill, some people are jumping to the worst-case scenario. So, is BTG actually cancelled?
Beyond the Gates Brings Sudden Pause
Ever since Beyond the Gates premiered in February, it’s had soap fans totally hooked. The show brings us inside an exclusive, high-society Black neighborhood, with the Dupree family running the show, and keeping more than a few secrets under wraps. Naturally, viewers were all in.
And, CBS says the show’s been averaging 1.82 million viewers since its launch. So when this week rolled around and no new episodes aired, fans took notice. People started asking, did CBS just pull the plug?
BTG Is NOT Cancelled Yet!
Good news, BTG is not cancelled. Not even close. In fact, it’s already been renewed for Season 2, so there’s lots more drama on the way. The reruns this week are a programming choice, most likely because of the Fourth of July holiday landing on Friday. CBS decided to replay the first five episodes instead of airing something new while people are away or offline.
Show creator Michele Val Jean posted on X to let fans know the decision came from higher up and wasn’t something she had control over. But she did say it’s a good chance for first-time viewers to catch up, and longtime fans to relive the beginning.
According to Parade, Beyond the Gates will return with all-new episodes on Monday, July 7. So if you’ve been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for more drama, it won’t be long now. In the meantime, if you’ve got a friend who hasn’t started the show yet, this is the perfect week to get them into it. Don’t stress, BTG is here to stay.
