EastEnders Laura Reveals She ALMOST LEFT Acting
EastEnders star Laura Doddington has revealed that she was almost quitting acting. Until she landed the role of one of the biggest villains on the soap – Nicola Mitchell, which made her change her mind. Nicola entered the square last year in November. Since her arrival, she was hiding that she killed her son Harry’s girlfriend, Shireen Basher. Which was recently revealed to her husband and son. Another bombshell was also dropped on the Mitchells when it was revealed that Barney is Zack’s son.
Her little lies seem to be coming out one by one, and her kingdom of lies and crimes seems to be falling apart. Earlier the actress got nominated for Best Newcomer at this weekend’s Soap Awards. Laura has now revealed that it was very hard for her to get a role previously. “The industry is hard at the moment. Before this audition came through, I’d been looking at retaining to do something else; I’ve got a young kid,” Laura told the Daily Mirror. The soap star further added that having a kid makes you think about their future and stability.
Laura Opens Up About Struggles Of Finding A Role
She further added that she cuts her son’s hair and she is good at it. So she thought it would be a good option. “I was in Prime Suspect when I was in my 20s and The Midwich Cuckoos, but they weren’t massive parts,” she added. Laura revealed that she might not be able to have that lead role. Doddington further explained how she has been working for 22 years and how she has dealt with amazing highs as well as lows. She further added that when she got the part of Nicola, she was ‘ecstatic’.
“I am really lucky that Chris Clenshaw took a punt on a jobbing actor and gave me the chance. This came at the right time. It feels incredible.” The actress further added that this industry does not lend you a major role when you have not earned a good name at the age of 35. “It’s just the way that it is and the way the world is a little bit,” she added. No one can deny that Laura has not failed to impress everyone as Nicole, and we hope she continues to do so. Till then, keep reading Soap Opera Daily for more such EastEnders updates and spoilers.
