EastEnders Has Been Awarded With Television Craft Special Award
EastEnders have the best news for their beloved fans. The BBC soap has been awarded the Television Craft Award. The award has been honoured by BAFTA for those who have been working behind the camera.
This year, EastEnders celebrated 40 years on the screen. The award will be presented to those who were committed to producing the best show. Whether it be the best screenplay or the production, everyone behind the camera gives what not to nurture a soap. This award is to honour all such talents.
Speaking of talent, their history is quite long in finding and nurturing new talents with the help of their different trainee schemes. It started back in 2015 with BBC’s Continuing New Directors’ Training Screen. In 2021 the soap decided to present the issues of chronic lesser attention at the talented minor groups in the field of directing.
They partner with Director UK on the same scheme to make it happen. In the last few years there were three more talented schemes that were launched: the Writers Studio, Ascend Acting Workshops and The Multi-Camera Directing Course.

Moreover, the award will be presented to BBC’s soap on Sunday, April 27th, 2025, during the BAFTA Television Craft Awards Ceremony. This year’s award will be returning to The Brewery. The Outgoing Chief Content Officer at BBC has said that ‘they are thrilled that the BAFTA has awarded EastEnders with the Television Craft Special Award.’
Moving forward, the Head of Drama Production, Kate Oates, added ‘that on behalf of everyone, she would like to thank the BAFTA for honouring the soap with this special award.’
Hilary Rosen, BAFTA Television Committee Chair, said that “EastEnders is a towering force in British television.” Further, she added that they are thrilled to honour the soap with this special award for such powerful off-screen impact at this year’s BAFTA Television Craft Awards.
