However, this loneliness and heartbreak led him to look for love elsewhere. And that is when Johnny Carter and his relationship began. It was initially finding comfort around Johnny. But he did not realise that it had turned into something else now.
After Callum’s father, Jonno Highway, passed away, Johnny became his lifeline. Johnny supported Callum through thick and thin. He received the stability from him that he always craved. And slowly, Callum realised that Johnny was all he ever wanted from life. He no longer wanted to stay in a marriage full of chaos. On Jonno’s funeral day, Kathy catches them kissing. Callum had earlier asked Johnny not to attend the funeral. However, now that Kathy has seen the two, things have changed.
Kathy wastes no time and quickly informs the entire Mitchell family about Callum’s infidelity. They then confront Callum harshly. And now with no option left, Callum is forced to defend himself. He then reminds him how, after Ben’s prison, he had to raise Lexi all alone. And at that moment, Johnny stepped up when he needed someone the most.
Actor Tony Clay, who plays Callum, explained that this was the moment when finally Callum realised who had truly been there by his side. Everybody else was in Ben’s support. And only Johnny stood up for him. And when realisation hits him, he takes a bold decision. He then tells Johnny to attend the funeral. He says it is time to face the truth.

Kathy and the family members decide to keep Callum’s affair hidden from Ben until the funeral. But surely, destiny had some other plans. Ben arrived at the funeral unannounced. He has been granted a day’s release from prison. And Callum is completely shaken after seeing him; all the decisions he took just vanished in a second.
Tony Clay also said that this was the moment when Callum’s world collapsed. Whatever he had planned with Johnny was broken.
