National Television Awards’ security scare led to police detaining another stalker at Elstree Studios. As per sources, one of EastEnders’ fans was held under the mental health act after he visited the BBC soap’s set in north London twice and didn’t leave the premises. During the NTAs, actors like Adam Woodyatt, Jessie Wallace and Jacqueline Jossa received extra protection at the glitzy awards.
Soap opera fans know that many of the cast attended the award ceremony at London’s O2 arena last Wednesday night in the hope of winning the best Series Drama award. And even though the soap lost out to their ITV rival, Emmerdale, the actors might be feeling a bit relieved as it was revealed that there were concerns about them being targeted at the event. The security staff at the ceremony were also made aware, and they had pictures of the stalker.
According to The Sun, the stalker was ‘demanding to kiss’ members of the cast. Furthemore, a man was taken in custody after he was acting suspicious on Shenley Road and he has been detained under the mental health act.
These stalkers could easily be two different people, and a source at the event said, “Having that many A-listers in one place meant the O2 was already incredibly well guarded, but the threat to EastEnders cast meant additional measures were put in place.”
