The ghosts of Walford’s past are all set to stir up drama this Christmas as EastEnders hints at the return of iconic characters. We know that the festive season on soap operas is more than just jingle bells and chocolate and this year will be no exception. EastEnders might be looking at Dickensian-inspired Christmas festivities for Walford residents as ghosts of Christmas past return. We know one of the biggest storylines this year was the murder of Keanu Taylor and all the stories that are getting framed around it. And it looks like it will once again be at the centre for this year’s festive season and BBC soap’s upcoming 40th anniversary.
We know that Linda Carter is struggling, and her alcoholism is gaining attention as Bernie Taylor has returned to haunt her. All of this began when Linda stabbed Keanu while saving Sharon last Christmas Day and she has very convincingly gotten away from her heinous crime. But her family and friends want her to be safe and stay from the bottle, so it looks like the show might be planning a death horror for Linda in her dream, which will bring legendary characters back on the show for a short stint.

There were whispers of pictures of a funeral being leaked, where Nancy and Lee Carter were spotted along with Johnny and Elaine. But there were no signs of our beloved Linda. We also saw Nancy in flamingo earrings, which are from Linda’s closet, and other mourners had pink accessories, which is Linda’s favorite color. Could this all be a bad dream for Linda, who is envisioning how her future will turn out if she keeps drinking?
This might also pave the wave for the return of Danny Dyer who will reprise his role as Mick Carter after being away for two years. We might see them making a ghostly appearance at his grieving wife’s bedside. Christmas on soaps is always the time to bring out the big guns so we better stay tuned.
