Something is brewing in EastEnders, but plans aren’t necessarily going as far as they expect. Linda Carter‘s life has been turned topsy-turvy over recent weeks, and while there’s light at last appearing at the end of the tunnel, some revived tensions and not-so-foreseen twists threaten to extinguish her enthusiasm.
EastEnders: Linda Receives Long-Awaited News, But Elaine Can’t Resist
After weeks of living at Sonia Fowler’s home, Linda Carter finally has reason to be optimistic again. The insurance firm tells her that they will be paying out, lifting a huge weight off her shoulders and enabling her to look forward to The Queen Vic’s reopening.
With arrangements beginning to be made, Linda’s relief is short-lived as her mother, Elaine, starts to take control. Intent on being a part of things, Elaine begins making her own decisions, much to Linda’s annoyance. Feeling marginalized, Linda talks to Denise Fox. In the meantime, Kim provides an unexpected diversion-she tells Linda to think less about the pub and more about her love life.
The Vic’s Still Closed—And There’s Drama Brewing at Harry’s Barn
Still grieving Mick, who was lost at sea over two years ago, Linda isn’t ready to jump back into dating. Instead, she decides to channel that energy into matchmaking for her son, Johnny. She tries setting him up with Felix Baker, and her idea quickly gains momentum. Later, she finally relents to Kim’s idea and goes on a date of her own. Anxious to meet her date, Jeff, Linda is comforted by Johnny’s encouraging words. The evening goes well, and she is guardedly hopeful for the possibilities.
Although the insurance claim will allow the pub to be rebuilt, The Queen Vic is still far from reopening. Meanwhile, Gina and Anna Knight seek employment to help themselves. They both go to see Nicola Mitchell at Harry’s Barn in an attempt to secure employment. Nicola tells them that she does have one vacancy available, but the sisters will have to compete with each other for it.
While the girls settle into their trial shifts, Nicola’s son, Harry, oversees them. He takes pleasure in tormenting Gina and seeing the tension build during their shift. On the production front, Chris Clenshaw has assured that the revamped Queen Vic will return to television in May.
In a behind-the-scenes special, EastEnders Revealed: The Lock In, Harriet Thorpe said she wanted to redecorate the pub right from the beginning. She said she was going for a trendier appearance with hints of rose gold. However, Harriet assured that it would remain precisely the same. Well, what changes and remains the same is yet to be seen.
