EastEnders executive producer Chris Clenshaw has announced that he will be stepping down from his role next year, which he has emotionally called ‘the honour of his life.’ The 37-year-old soap boss will leave the show in February 2025 after the show celebrates its 40th anniversary. According to reports, Ben Wadey from Channel 4 will be taking over Chris’ role.
This news sent shockwaves all around, and fans have been wondering if this will lead to a major soap shake-up. They have their own ideas. Several viewers took to social media and said that the new boss should remove ‘dead wood’ from the BBC programme. It looks like fans want characters like Felix, Callum, and Reiss to be removed, who have no solid storyline as of now.
Along with this, one fan demanded that Ben introduce more strong female representation in the Mitchell clan. They wrote, “I think we need some new Mitchell women to join the new brothers. We have been lacking Mitchell women since the loss of Ronnie, Roxy, Peggy, Sam, and Glenda.” Others would also want Shirley and Sam to return, but in a long stint.
