Hollywood Star Ben Opens Up About Leaving BBC Show!
Ben Hardy, who first made his name playing Ian Beale’s son Peter in EastEnders, has been speaking about the reason behind his decision to leave the show. During an interview with The Independent, he said, ‘I had been battling it for a year, how to make things work. ‘I have so much respect for everyone who works on that show. [But] I felt myself getting lazy as an actor; I felt myself constantly going, “This scene doesn’t work.”
Hardy went on to say that it was like “trying to make a diamond out of something that can’t be a diamond. “That laziness scared me,” he added. “I [said], ‘I have to get out of here.'” Long-time viewers know that Ben was replaced as Peter by Dayle Hudson, followed by Thomas Law in 2023, who returned to the role for a second time.
During Hardy’s stint on the BBC soap, one of his most notable storylines included his emotional turmoil for his sister Lucy, who was killed by his half-brother, Bobby. This dark storyline became one of the biggest narratives of the show, and a Whodunit story unfolded from it, too. Ben’s character was also romantically involved with Lauren Branning during his time.
