With first-look images now out, we are all buzzing with this new career move. So, what’s James up to next? Let’s spill the tea!
EastEnders Star James Lands A New Role!
EastEnders legend James Bye has landed a new role – a few days after the tragic death of his BBC soap character, Martin Fowler. The 41-year-old was a fan favorite and was killed off during the show’s 40th anniversary special live episode. He has now revealed his next move after leaving Walford – he is all set to play iconic Jane Austen hero, Mr Darcy, in the theatrical world premiere of Death Comes To Pemberley.
Published in 2011 by late author PD James, Death Comes to Pemberley is a follow-up to Austen’s beloved classic, picking up with Elizabeth Bennet and Darcy six years into her marriage. The pair will have a shocking death on their estate deal. And the suspicions will be on their brother-in-law, Mr. Wickham. This new role is definitely different from what Bye used to do until now.
In the newly released pictures, Bye can be seen dressed as Darcy. He is in a caramel coat with red lapels, a beige waistcoat, and trousers. There are also pictures of him standing beside Jamie-Rose Duke, who plays Elizabeth Darcy. While speaking about his new role, James looked excited about his latest career move. He said, “I am leaving EastEnders on an absolute high after the explosive live 40th anniversary episode.”
“After a decade of gritty storylines, it’s going to be quite a switch to put on period clothes as one of literature’s romantic leading men. But I can’t wait for this new chapter to begin,” he added. The play is directed by Joe Harmston and will tour across England from May 1. For more such updates on EastEnders, keep following Soap Opera Daily!
