EastEnders legacy actor Ross Kemp has revealed that his recent return took a toll on him. Recently, during the 40th anniversary celebration, he came back to Walford. His character, Grant Mitchell, came back with a major drama. But it seems that the drama has ‘fried’ the actor. Kemp has opened up about his experience. Here is what he said. EastEnders actor Ross Kemp shared his experience of returning to the soap. He told RadioTimes that all the emotional scenes during his comeback were a bit too much for him. As it all took a toll on him. He added that it was indeed wonderful to come back. “But you come away from it slightly fried,” Kemp added.
He added that Grant is back one moment, and in the other, he’ll be fighting, or crying, or making love. “Then he’s crying about it, then he’s fighting again,” Ross said. He further added that his character never just got the chance to sit in the launderette.
The soap star explained his first scene when he returned, where he broke into the Arches and was wrestling a Beretta 9mm off his brother. He added that it wasn’t something like entering a cafe and asking for a bacon roll.
Even though he faces an intense storyline, he would like to return as fan-favourite Grant for another short plot. Kemp said that Grant is a part of him. Ross further said that it was nice to wear his black leather jacket and joked about how relieving it was to know that he could still get in it.
Grant’s Dramatic Comeback!
Grant’s return came back with so much drama. Be it him repairing his relationship with his brother Phil and getting to know about his mental health battle. Later he also attempted to take his own life. Whereas the fire was reignited between his old fling Sharon Watts while she was dating her newly discovered cousin Teddy. Furthermore, he also got to know about his pal Nigel’s diagnosis.
Ross Kemp has been a part of the BBC’s soap since 1990. He took an exit in 1999 and became a recurring actor. Grant returned various times, including when Peggy Mitchell died back in 2016.
