EastEnders Icon Shares Real-Life Changes After Emotional Exit
Former EastEnders star Max Bowden has reflected back on his time in Walford, admitting it to be one of the most challenging acting gigs ever. Long time viewers know that the beloved actor portrayed the role of Ben Mitchell for five years between 2019 and 2024. His character was written out of the BBC soap last year. Max highlighted that, ‘the character was tired, I was tired, they [the producers] were probably tired of me being tired’.
And now, almost nine months after his departure, Bowden spoke with A Young Perspective. The popular actor has revealed how his life changed after leaving the soap. He said, “My life has changed a lot recently; I don’t party anymore. I’m just interested in being a better dad and a better person overall.” He also added that the BBC series is one the hardest acting gigs as a person needs to focus on the impulse a lot.

Max Has New Projects Lined Up!
The actor also added that he carries method into his acting. So it’s easy for him to get lost in the work. However, Bowden also mentioned that he’s grateful for his time there which taught him to approach anything without fear. Even though his stint on BBC soap has ended, the actor will now star in a touring stage production of Sebastian Faulks’ 1993 war novel Birdsong. He also spoke about his new role. And said, ‘The story contains all of the beauty and the cruelty of mankind.’
We all saw Max’s exit from the soap and saw Ben Mitchell sent to prison in America for fraud. Before this, he was involved in an emotional storyline that saw Lola Pearce die after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. We sure miss watching Ben on our screens but we hope he succeeds in all his future endeavours. For more such updates on EastEnders, keep following Soap Opera Daily!
