EastEnders Fans Beware!
The BBC has issued a scam warning to EastEnders viewers about faux social media accounts impersonating actors from the show. The network had earlier discussed concerns about an increase in fake soap star social media accounts. And now, once again, they have requested fans to be smart. An official statement has been released on the soap’s social media channels requesting people to report accounts that ask for money.
The statement read, “Please note that no cast member of EastEnders employee will ever make contact to request money for a meeting, messages, set visits or any other interactions. If you have been contacted, especially on a social media platform via a direct or mass message posted to a group. Please ensure you report these instances to the relevant platform immediately.”
This warning statement comes shortly after ITV urged Corrie and Emmerdale fans to be ‘vigilant’ about fraudsters on social media. They also highlighted that no cast member ever requests money for any kind of interaction on social media. The broadcaster said that they’re ‘aware’ that some of these messages look real because of deep-fake footage, but please be vigilant.
