EastEnders is about to hit Lauren Branning with another painful twist. However, when things seemed to be improving for her son Jimmy, a new storm was waiting for her. The devoted mum finds herself trapped in a lie after believing she had found a way to help her little boy see again. Keep scrolling to know more.
Lauren’s Hope Turns Into A Nightmare
Jacqueline Jossa’s character Lauren Branning has already faced many struggles with her young son. In the beginning, Lauren had to fight with everybody to convince them that something was wrong with Jimmy’s eyes. Everybody just ignored her worries, and so she had to create a scene where she demanded answers.
Later, she met a consultant and got the biggest heartbreak of her life. The consultant told her that her son was severely sight-impaired. And Lauren and Peter were informed that Jimmy has optic nerve and chorioretinal coloboma. His eyes were not fully formed, and he had serious sight problems.

Lauren tried her best to stay strong for her child. Elsewhere, she soon comes across a treatment plan for him. Lauren takes that chance for Jimmy’s better future. However, those were just fraudsters who were running a healthcare scam, and she had been targeted. They then stole money from her by taking advantage of her motherly love.
Lauren was self-blaming before for Jimmy’s state. She assumed that by taking a certain medication during her pregnancy, she contributed to the child’s defect, that is, blindness. But later on, she learnt that the cause behind Jimmy’s condition was a rare genetic mutation. She felt relieved at that time, but now, this treachery has shattered her into small bits.
EastEnders Joins The BBC’s Scam Safe Week
This storyline will also be a part of the BBC’s Scam Safe Week. It is an awareness campaign which focuses on educating people about fraud and how scammers target emotional vulnerabilities. The soap points out how scammers fool people for money. This week, BBC shows like Hope Street and The One Show will talk about how to spot scams and stay safe.

The BBC’s Chief Content Officer, Kate Phillips, has revealed the significance. It states that the BBC still considers itself a reliable source for truth and help. She also pointed out that public awareness was the greatest preventive measure against crimes that accounted for more than 40 per cent of the total in the UK.
The Scam Safe Week will teach people to spot the warning signs, safeguard themselves, and have frank discussions regarding their finances. For more EastEnders spoilers and updates, keep following Soap Opera Daily.
