Laurie Brett Drops Hints About Her Iconic Return Storyline!
EastEnders fans have seen Ian Beale acting all sneaky and hiding something since last week, and now THAT secret has been revealed. On Monday, viewers of the soap saw Cindy Beale come face-to-face with her husband’s ex-wife, Jane, after following him to the Cotswolds. Now that Jane is back, she will definitely meet all the people she had left behind setting the stage for more drama. The 55-year-old actress recently appeared in an interview and spoke about her short stint.
When asked about how she feels about being back on the show, Laurie said, “I was quite nervous on the first day, thinking, ‘Gosh, do I remember how to be Jane?’ But even though I was nervous, I’d had quite a lot of time to think about it, having had the scripts for a while, so it was just about getting back into the swing of it.” She talked about how all her concerns were washed away after she saw Adam and Michelle on the set.
While discussing her reaction to the return on EastEnders, Brett went on and said: “It’s been so long since we last saw Jane that I was keen to know what the story would be to bring her back. So, I had a meeting with Chris Clenshaw (executive producer), and he laid out the story for me and why they’d love me to be a part of it. By the end of that chat, I was in.” The Scottish actress first appeared on the soap in 2004 and mentioned that she was excited to work with Adam, Clay and Michelle.

Furthermore, viewers saw a historic scene in EastEnders on Monday when Jane and Cindy met for the first time, and it was definitely shocking. Laurie said, “They’ve never met before, but Jane knows an awful lot more about Cindy than Cindy knows about Jane because of all those years she spent with the Beale kids. So, Jane is sideswiped by Cindy, but she’s also a bit indignant, thinking, ‘What are you doing in my house? Seeing Cindy is almost like seeing a ghost for Jane. Jane’s head is spinning, which is only natural, given how bizarre this situation is.” We might see the two strong-headed ladies getting into more trouble as they fight for Ian’s affection.
If you think that is a lot, just imagine what will happen once Jane reunites with stepson Bobby a decade after she tried to cover up his murder of sister Lucy. While discussing this long-lost reunion, Laurie said, “The minute Jane sees Bobby, it’s almost like an out-of-body experience for her. The whole world stops, and all she can see is him. Her heart is exploding with love, and everything else fades to black. It’s a beautiful moment. She further explained, “I think there are a few scenes that are going to make people cry. No matter what Bobby has done to Jane in the past, a mother will always forgive. You only have to look at Dot and Nick back in the day to see that’s true.”
At the end, the iconic character teased the audience and said that Jane’s return is going to be intense, exciting and emotional! And, we would have expected anything else, fans have gone wild over this unbelievable return.
