EastEnders legendary actress Anita Dobson has surprised her fans and everyone by speaking about her return and how she is ‘very proud’ about it. She was first seen in Walford around 1980. Recently she came back to the soap in February to celebrate the 40th-year anniversary. Everyone was shocked to see her back as Angie Watts. Now she has opened up about her comeback. Here’s what she said.
EastEnders Actress Anita Shocked Everyone With Her Cameo
EastEnders legacy star Anita Dobson returned to the soap after years during the 40th anniversary celebration in February. The fans and viewers were stunned to see their beloved Angie Watts back, as Sharon had a vision of her while she was trapped under the debris because of the unfortunate explosion at the Vic. As she was stuck, her mother asked her to scream for help, as no one knew where she was.
She has been part of major plots, but the one which was record-breaking and huge was Angie handing over the divorce papers to her husband Den on Christmas Day in 1986. This episode broke the record, as it got 30.1 million views. Later in 1988 the actress surprised everyone with the announcement of leaving the soap. And later in 2001 her daughter Sharon informed everyone that her mother is no more, which confirmed that we will not be able to see her back on the soap.
Actress Anita Opened Up About Her Return On The Soap
Anita is right now busy playing Mrs Flood on Doctor Who. She recently appeared on The One Show and opened up about her brief return to the Square. She said, “It was weird, very emotional, and it was absolutely lovely. It was like stepping into a bath of warm water, warm bubble water.” The actress further said that everyone was ‘gorgeous’ to her, and she loved working with her onscreen daughter, Letitia Deana, again. She also added that she could not believe that she was back in her original costume. “I’m very proud of that,” she added.
Anita also spoke about her time on Doctor Who as Mrs Floods. Her character is the former villain of the show – The Rani. She revealed how she played a nosy neighbour in the Christmas episode, and then Russell T Davies called her for the whole series. She further added that she did not know where this was going but ‘it’s a real blast.’ While we hope to see her back on the soap again, we also hope that she continues to thrive like always.
