Janine Butcher Actress Opens Up About Her Return
EastEnders Star Charlie Brooks made herself a household name in Britain after joining the BBC soap as Janine Butcher. She had been playing the role of a villainous woman on and off since 1999, when she replaced Alexia Demetriou.
She wrapped up her third and most recent appearance, which ended in a disaster two years ago, and it was slammed by the fans. Long-time viewers know Janine was a manipulative and dark character who split the iconic couple Mick and Linda as she wanted him all to herself.
As for her departing stint, she was imprisoned after driving a car off a cliff which led to the death of her husband. However, fans of the BBC soap were devastated over how bad her exit storyline turned out. One of them said, “Janine’s most recent stint was absolutely bad.” While another added, “In all seriousness it’s been two years I’ve had a proper soap female villain to Stan (I don’t count Janine because her last stint was s****).” Uh-Oh! Fans are not happy!
Ever since she left the series, Brooks has turned back on TV and has shifted to theatre. Charlie is currently on stage in a touring production of Chitty Chitty Band Bang, where she plays the Childcatcher. The famous actress recently discussed her potential return to the show where she played coy with the idea.

She said, “It’s a bit like a home, to be honest. I’ve kind of been back a few times, so it’s always really lovely to see everyone. It’s one of those places where lots of people stay so it’s nice to catch up with people again.”
Brooks also talked about how she doesn’t feel good about staying still for long and likes to do different things.
