Tony joined EastEnders in 1994 as Roy Evans. He was the man who would later marry Pat Butcher, played by Pam St Clement. Roy very soon became a familiar face in Walford. He was known for his quiet charm and strong presence. Not just that, he was also a part of the soap’s most memorable storylines. And it included his love for Pat and the drama that came with it.
When he was on the soap, Caunter’s character experienced both highs and lows. However, in his final storyline, we saw Roy dying in a hospital after a stress-induced heart attack. It was because he found out that Pat was covering up an affair. When Caunter reflected on his journey, he said it was the happiest period of his career.
