EastEnders icon Max Bowden has landed a new musical gig titled Midnight Cowboy. The star’s brand new role is based on a James Leo Herlihy’s book of the same name, which follows a young man named Joe Buck – who is desperate to escape his dead-end past. According to sources, Bowden will be stepping into the role of Rico ‘Ratso’ Rizzo, who meets Joe after moving to New York City in search of ‘wealth and glory.’
The official synopsis reads, “The pair join forces, prepared to do whatever it takes to achieve their dreams. Even if it means surrendering a part of themselves. But New York ain’t no dream. It’s a jungle and survival requires sacrifice…” The former soap star will be joined by several other celebrities including Tori Allen-Martin, Elena Breschi, Joanna Henry, Nick Len, Tim Rogers, and Matthew White.
Fans know that Midnight Cowboy has already been adapted into an Oscar-winning film. And it stars Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman. The musical will be open for audiences at Southwark Playhouse Elephant from April 04 to May 17. Furthermore, readers know that Bowden left the BBC soap last year.
